Why Family Journey Online Exists
Family estrangement is one of the most painful and least talked about realities of modern family life. Research suggests that one in four adults is estranged from a parent or close family member. Most of them never planned for it to happen. And most of the parents on the other side of that distance have no idea what went wrong.
Family Journey Online exists because we believe estrangement is not inevitable. We believe that the relationships parents have with their adult children are built or broken in the ordinary moments of everyday life. And we believe that with the right habits, honest conversations, and genuine intention, families can stay close across generations, continents, and the inevitable changes that life brings.

Our Story
Where This All Began
Family Journey Online did not begin as a content strategy. It began with a question that would not go away: why do some families stay genuinely close across the years, and others drift apart, even when everyone involved still cares?
That question came from personal experience. Our founders grew up in families where connection was fractured and distance became the norm. Not because of a lack of love, there was plenty of love, but because the habits, conversations and small choices that build closeness were simply never practised. Nobody taught them. Nobody modelled them. And by the time the cost became clear, years had already passed.
We refused to believe that estrangement was inevitable. So we went looking for the families who got it right, and we built this community around what we found.
What we found was that the parents who stayed close to their adult children were not perfect parents. They were intentional ones. They listened differently. They apologised genuinely. They gave freedom before they had to. They stayed curious about their children's worlds even when those worlds looked nothing like their own.
Those habits became the foundation of everything Family Journey Online publishes. And the determination that our own children will never experience what we experienced became the reason we keep building.

As a husband and father of two young children, Nosakhare speaks from lived experience — drawing on both the family he is building today and the more complex family journey that shaped him. His content centres on listening, connection, and the small choices that determine the kind of relationship a parent will have with their adult child one day.
